Source Micro to Offer Leading Server Platform Technology based on Intel’s NewDual-Core Intel® Xeon® Processor
Randolph, New Jersey, May 23, 2006 -- Source Micro today announced a significant new addition to its server lineup powered by Intel's latest technology - the Dual-Core Intel® Xeon® processor 5000 series.
Some of the key features of the Dual-Core Intel® Xeon® processor that make this a high performance processor include the move to serial DIMM for a max of 64mb, and the standard use of SAS technology in all versions. At the same time, Intel® will also integrate many other features such as virtualization and manageability features. Power consumption will be only 135 Watts delivering power savings even with the increase in overall power.
“The new platform will be light years ahead of current offerings; Intel® has not just added a new processor but has created a baseline for all servers to follow.” Said Curtis Tarvin, Vice President of Sales for Source Micro. The new Pro Series server HX5 will offer a combination of jumps in manageability and performance that have seldom been seen in a single new product release.
Initially available on the dual processor H series servers, the new Dual-Core Intel® Xeon® processors offer customers industry-leading performance, price performance and performance per watt ratios. In addition, Source Micro plans to expand its Pro Series portfolio with new technology as theIntel® Xeon® processor 7000 sequences become available later this year.
